Björgólfur thinks about selling West Ham

“Björgólfur Guðmundsson is reviewing his whole collection of properties.” says Ásgeir Friðgeirsson, spokesman for Björgólfur and vice president in the board of the English football club West Ham, when asked about growing pressure on Björgólf to sell the football club.

The website of Daily Mail reported increased pressure to sell on their website just after midnight tonight at English time. Björgólfur could barely afford to own the club any more. Ásgeir points out that in the news is also written that the club is not in any worse condition than before the bankruptcy of Samson, the Björgólf family investment company, which owned more than 40% in Landsbankinn. In the article says that Björgólfur aid with cash for West Ham he is able to sell when he sees fit.

“In the light of the situation of Björgúlfs Guðmundssonar he is ofcourse revising all of his properties, but if that means that men should sell or own the club is not clear,” says Ásgeir Itdoes matter what is offered for the club.

“It is clear on the other hand that a lot of men have looked to the club and have declared that they know of some individuals that are interested but we have not spoken with them.” says Ásgeir.

“We are very relaxed. The club is not on sale today or tomorrow. There are reviews of the belongings with other properties in mind and that will take some time and men are looking at the opportunities in the situation. There is no decision in the matter. And that´s that.”
