Geir Jón Þórisson, chief constable, says that very little may go wrong if everything is not supposed to boil over in down town central Reykjavík. Around 2000 people are participated in the protests in Austurvöllur this afternoon and people were very heated says Geir Jón when he spoke to mbl.is
He says the police reserves are ready to jump in if the need will arise. There has not been a reason so far to call for the reserves to assist the police in the down town central but the anger of the crowd has been amongst other towards the police.
Geir Jón says that the police has not arrested anyone in the protests but did speak with the man who flagged the Bónus flag on the house of the Parliament today. The flag was removed but the house of the Parliament is covered in eggs and yogurt. The police is standing by and the crowd is getting smaller now than it was.
